1. When you see God’s potential you become a dreamer. God is the creator of the universe and you are created in His image. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly-abundantly-above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Eph 3:20) The dreams I like come through deep, imaginative thinking on the word of God and prayer; dreams that solve problems, help people, and expand God’s Kingdom. Anyone can have these kinds of dreams.
2. When you see your own potential you become an achiever.
“To as many as receive Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God.” (John 1:12) We were born the first time with the potential as sons of men, but when we were born-again, we became sons of God with a totally new potential - to walk even as He walked. (1 John 2:6)
“These signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues, ...they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover… And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.” (Mark 16:17-20)
In Judges 6, the angel was speaking to Gideon’s potential when he called him, ‘A mighty man of valor, deliverer of Israel’. Same with Jeremiah. “Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you, a prophet to the nations.” Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” (Jer 1:5-6) But the Lord corrected Jeremiah and said to him, “Do not say ‘I am a youth.’ For you shall go to all whom I send you.” When God says you shall, don’t say you can’t. God revealed to him his potential – ‘Jeremiah you were born for this! Now get your eyes off your problems and onto your potential and you will become a great achiever.’
3. When you see potential in others, and you become a leader.
“The purposes of God in a man’s heart are like deep water, but a man of understanding draws it out.” (Prov 20:5) Barnabas (Son of Encouragement) saw the potential in Paul when no one else did.
When God says you shall - don't say you can't
“Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas. (which is translated, A Stone).” (John 1:42) In other words, “This is who you are, but this is who you shall become.” God took Peter through a process from being a reed, to becoming a stone and finally he was called a pillar.
My definition of the Victory Spirit is one that looks for the good, believes the best, and is willing to take a risk on people. The world desperately needs more visionary leaders: pastors, politicians, parents, and business owners, etc. - who can see the potential in the people they lead and can draw it out.
Lord anoint us with fresh oil, that our eyes might see the potential in us and around us.
Yours for eyes to see Gods Potential, Our own Potential, and the Potential in others.
